Tour Overview

Tour Petra from the Dead Sea.  You will be picked up from your hotel in the Dead Sea, and taken to Petra.  Tour Petra with a licensed guide, to see the famous Treasury, the tombs, the temples, the amphitheater, and more.

Itinerary

Petra was once occupied by the Nabateans, they created almost all of what you see in Petra.  Recently the Bedouins have resided in Petra and have been moved to a city outside, because of the tourism.  Entering Petra understanding will come at once as to why this site is one of the seven wonders of the world.  The Treasury is a gigantic facade that was carved from the sandstone, and is said to be a sacrificial place.  The Nabateans used to sacrifice animals to their gods.  There is much to see in Petra including the temples, a Roman theater, mourning halls, tombs, and much more.

We start our tour at 06:00 a.m. We will pick you up from your hotel at the Dead Sea, and drive to the Arava border.  Arriving at the border we will help you with the border procedures.

From the Jordanian border we will go to Petra.
It is about a 2 hour drive.

Tour Petra with a licensed local guide. The city is surrounded by the hills of rust colored sandstone.  We will visit all of the temples, and tombs, learning about the Nabataean's special and unique art of carving in the sand stone.
After the tour we will continue to one of the restaurants for lunch at 15:30.
After lunch we will travel back towards the border via Aqaba.
Time of arrival back to Dead sea 21:00 pm. There is an option to end the tour in Eilat and or stay overnight in Eilat.

Reviews

  • A long day but very worthwhile. Early start in Tel Aviv to fly to Eilat. Crossing into Jordan was fairly easy with the help of the guide who met us at Eilat airport. 2hr trip to Petra in 2x16 seater aircon vans. Young, vibrant and friendly group. Fantastic trip around Petra. Spectacular. Nice lunch overlooking Jordan valley. Arrived back in Tel Aviv around 10pm. Special thanks to Romy from booking tours company for helping us.
