Tour Overview

Tour Petra and Wadi Rum from Tel Aviv including internal flights, private guide, entrance fees, sleeping in Wadi Rum, and some meals.  Stay overnight in a Bedouin tent and experience the desert.  This is a one on one tour with your own personal guide.

Itinerary

Petra was an inheritance left to us by the Nabateans.  They were a very prosperous people, that made their money by selling water to passing travelers and tradesmen. Petra is famous for its facades that were carved out of the sandstone mountains. There are over 800 structures to view in Petra, and of course there will not be time to view it all.  The guide will take you to see as much as possible in the time you have.

Wadi Rum is in the middle of the desert and is today inhabited by the Bedouins.  The Bedouins have built one school for boys and one for girls.  They still live in their camel haired tents.  There are beautiful paintings that were done on the side of the sandstone mountains by the Nabateans thousands of years ago.

Day 1:  Petra

Start the day with an internal flight about 06:30 a.m. from the Sde Dov airport in Tel Aviv to Eilat.  At 08:15, a driver will take you from the Eilat airport to the Arava border.  He will help you with the border proceedings.  A Jordanian driver will be waiting on the Jordanian side to take you to Petra.  Arrival at the Visitors Center in Petra at about 11:30. There you will meet your guide and start the tour.  Tour the famous Treasury, the Roman Theater, temples, mourning houses, the caves, and more.  After the tour go to Wadi Rum for overnight in a Bedouin tent.

Day 2:  Wadi Rum

After breakfast at about 12:00  start the tour in Wadi Rum where you will have a private 2 hour 4x4 jeep tour.  See how the Bedouins live, the sandstone structures that pop out of the desert sands, the paintings on the sides of the mountains, and more.  After the tour you will be taken back to the Arava border and to the airport for your flight back to Tel Aviv.  (There is usually a couple of hours to walk around Eilat, take a swim in the Red Sea waters, do some shopping, or go for a bite to eat.)

Arrival back in Tel Aviv about 22:00.
