You ride the cable car up to Herod's clifftop fortress, hear the story of the last stand of the Jewish rebels against Rome, then float in the salty water at the lowest point on Earth, about 430 meters below sea level. Tips for the day
Bring a swimsuit, a towel, water shoes and plenty of drinking water. Do not shave the day before, keep the water away from your eyes and float rather than swim. Summer is very hot at the Dead Sea, so the day starts early. Arriving by ship? See the Masada shore excursion from Haifa.

Yes. Day tours from Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Herzliya visit both, with time to float in the Dead Sea after Masada.
What should I bring to the Dead Sea?

Do I have to walk up Masada?
No. The cable car takes you to the top. Fit walkers can use the Snake Path early in the day.

Spring and autumn are the most comfortable. In summer it is very hot, so tours start early.
