Tour Israel for 10 days with Petra Itinerary

A 10-day tour, touring Israel from the North to the South, with 2 days in Petra.  
There is also an option to extend 5 more days and do a cruise on the Nile in Egypt, and depart from Cairo.

Day 1: Nazareth

Pick up from your Hotel after breakfast. (07:15 - 07:35 am)

Start the drive towards Nazareth, passing Hertzeliya and Natanya, keep traveling along through the plain of Armageddon, you will have a view of Megiddo.  We will stop at the Mount of Precipitation.  Arriving in Nazareth tour the Church of Annunciation.  Moving on to the Church of St. Joseph.  Travel on to Jerusalem overnight.

Back to hotel for overnight in Tel Aviv.

Day 2:  Galilee and Golan

Pick up at 07:15 from your hotel  Drive North to Katzrin, on the way we will take a scenic route along the coast, then go through the plain of Armageddon, where there will be a view of Megiddo.  Arriving in Katzrin,  tour an ancient village from the 1st century.  There is a synagogue, homes, and an olive press.  Drive on to Mount Bental and explore the Syrian fortifications.  After the tour travel to Tel Aviv overnight.

Day 3: Caesarea and Haifa

Start out the day with a drive to Caesarea, tour the famous Roman theater that was dedicated to Caesar, and the ruins.  Drive along the coast to stop in Haifa and the Baha'i Gardens, Rosh Hanikra, and the grottos.  Continue to Acre to tour the Crusader castle and have a walk through the market.
Overnight in Tel Aviv.

Day 4: Safed, Tiberias and Mount Merom

Pick up from your hotel in Tel Aviv or Jerusalem, and drive north for a view of Megiddo.  Tiberias is on the Sea of Galilee, start by touring the archeological sites and graves from the 1st to the 5th centuries.  Visit the grave of one of the pupils of Rabbi Akiva, Rabbi Baal Hanes.  The women and men are separated at these sites.  There is a market here that sells religious paraphernalia.

Drive to Safed to tour the Ari Hakadosh synagogue, and walk through the alleyways of the Old City, the visitors' center, and the artist galleries.

When arriving at Mount Meron visit the grave from the second century, of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai.  He wrote the first book on the Kabala.  On Lag Baomer Israelis make the pilgrimage here to light bonfires and celebrate the holiday. Overnight Jerusalem

Day 5: Jerusalem Old and New

Tour Jerusalem, the Old City, and the New City.  Take a walk through the Jewish Quarter to arrive at the Western Wall.  From there, follow the Via Dolorosa, walking the Stations of the Cross, where you will see many pilgrims doing the same, to arrive at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.  After this go for a tour of the Yad Vashem Holocaust Museum.  Overnight in Jerusalem.

 

Day 6:  Jericho and Bethlehem

Start the day with an 08:30 pick-up from your hotel, and start driving through the Judean desert to the oldest city in the world, Jericho.  When arriving in Jericho see Mt.Temptation and the tree that Zachaeus climbed.  Continue on to tour the excavations and a synagogue.
Drive to Bethlehem to walk across Manger Square to the Church of Nativity, and the church of St. Catherine. Overnight Jerusalem.
 

Day 7:  Dead Sea and Masada

Pick-up is at 08:30 from your hotel.  Drive South to the Dead Sea, and ascend to Masada by cable car and tour the palaces, synagogue, bathhouse, and more.  Go to the Dead Sea to enjoy a mud bath and a swim in the Dead Sea. On the way back overview of the caves at Qumran where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered.  Driving back to Tel Aviv, there will be an evening flight to Eilat. Overnight Eilat.
 

Day 8:  Petra

Pick up at 08:15.  Start from your hotel in Eilat in the morning at the Jordanian border.  We will help you with the border proceedings, and you will start the drive to Petra (about 2 hours).  Tour with your Jordanian English-speaking guides the famous Treasury, the temples, the facades, the mourning halls, the Roman theater, and more. After the tour stop for lunch.  In the evening do Petra by night. ($25 not included)
Overnight in Petra.

 

Day 9:  Petra

This is a free day to go back and tour Petra at your leisure.  In the afternoon about 16:30, we will take you back to the border for an overnight in Eilat.
 

Day 10: Tel Aviv

In the morning you will take a flight from Eilat to Ben Gurion and your flight home.  (Holidays there will be a flight on the 9th day in the evening and overnight in Tel Aviv. In the morning there will be a transfer to the airport)

What you need to know:

• Day sequence can change, due to the availability of the tours
• Have a valid passport and landing card.
• Voucher and visa/tax/tip money in cash only (payable in U.S. dollars, Euro, Pound Sterling, or Israeli Shekel).
• Very warm clothing in Winter, cool comfortable clothing, and head covering in Summer.
• Good walking shoes.
