Day 1: Embrace the Spirit of Wadi Rum
Your adventure begins with an early morning flight from Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv to Eilat at 06:30 am. Upon landing at around 07:30 am, we will pick you up and drive you to the Arava border, the gateway to your desert journey. Your path leads to the magnificent Mamluk Castle, a formidable fortress of the 16th century that grants an awe-inspiring panoramic view.
From there, a rugged 4x4 jeep ride of about four hours awaits, taking you deep into the heart of the unique Wadi Rum landscape. Witness firsthand the timeless lifestyle of the Bedouins, their traditional sandstone structures, and fascinating mountain paintings that whisper tales of ancient times.
As dusk embraces the desert, you'll be welcomed at our Wadi Rum camp for a hearty dinner. Retire for the night in a Bedouin-style tent, immersing yourself in the calming silence of the desert under a blanket of stars.
Day 2: Unveiling the Secrets of Petra
Awake to a delicious breakfast at camp, fueling up for the day's exploration.
We journey next to the historic city of Petra in a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle. Once you step into the visitor center, the awe-inspiring world of Petra unfolds. Marvel at the majestic treasury house, the solemn tombs, the grand Roman theater, and much more. Along the way, delve into the rich history of the Nabataeans, their artistic prowess, and their pantheon. A guided tour of Petra is like stepping back in time, as you're led through the rose-red city, half as old as time. Your guide will be an expert in the history and archaeology of the area, providing insightful commentary that brings the ancient city to life.
For the adventurous, there are options for horseback, camel, or cart rides offering an alternative way to explore Petra.
Post the exploration, eat a local lunch at one of Petra's charming eateries.
Your tour concludes with a drive back to the Arava border, then onto Eilat Ramon Airport. The flight home typically takes off around 21:00 / 21:30 pm, carrying with you a treasure trove of memories from your desert escapade.
