Itinerario

Petra, the inheritance left to us by the Nabateans over two thousand years ago.  Today it is one of the 7 Wonders of the World.  The Nabateans were very prosperous people, obtaining their wealth by gathering water in huge cisterns and selling it to passing tradesmen and travelers.  Petra is known for its amazing facades carved out of sandstone, and done in ways that resemble Roman architecture. 

Wadi Rum is situated in the middle of the desert.  The Bedouins have resided here for hundreds of years.  They have built 2 schools, one for the boys and one for the girls.  The desert in Wadi Rum is full of sandstone structures jutting out of the sand, there are also paintings on the sandstone mountains that were made by the Nabateans thousands of years ago.

Day 1:  Petra

From your hotel at about 08:20, a driver will take you to the Arava border and help you with the border proceedings.  From the Jordanian side, a driver will take you to Petra, stopping at a few places along the way.  At about 11:30, start your tour from the Visitors Center in Petra.  Walk through the Siq to arrive at the Treasury, one of the most famous sites in Petra. Continue to tour Petra with your guide.  After the tour, go for lunch in a local restaurant.  After lunch, the driver will take you to your hotel in Petra and help you check-in.  Overnight Petra. *(Optional entry to Petra by night show- extra fee of $25 per person) 

Day 2: Petra

This is a free day to return to the Petra site on your own.  You will have all day to tour and see what you missed on the first day.  Overnight Petra (optional overnight in Wadi rum $100 per person) 

Day 3:  Wadi Rum

After breakfast, at about 10:00, a driver will take you to Wadi Rum for a 4x4 jeep tour of the desert.  The tour duration is about 2 hours.  After the tour, you will be taken back to the Arava border and your hotel or the airport in Eilat.  Arrived back at about 14:00.
