Private Tours in Israel
Jerusalem is a city you feel as much as you see, and it is best explored at your own pace. This private jerusalem tour picks you up at your hotel in Tel Aviv in a private air-conditioned car with your own licensed guide, so the whole day is built around your group. Stop longer where it moves you, skip what does not, and ask every question you want.
This private Jerusalem tour covers the essentials of the Holy City. Take in the classic panorama from Mount Scopus, then walk through the Jewish, Christian, Muslim and Armenian Quarters of the Old City. Stand at the Western Wall, follow the Via Dolorosa to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, and walk the restored Byzantine Cardo. The day ends at Yad Vashem, Israel's moving memorial to the victims of the Holocaust.
A private Jerusalem tour is ideal for families, couples, pilgrims and travelers who want depth without a big bus. Your guide adapts the pace for children or older guests, chooses the best lunch stop, and can add a site like Mount Zion or the Garden of Gethsemane if time allows. You never wait for other passengers.
Plan for about 10 hours door to door, with 3 to 4 hours of walking on stone streets and steps. English is standard, other languages on request. Prefer to join a small group instead? See the Jerusalem full day tour from Tel Aviv, or add Bethlehem on the private Jerusalem and Bethlehem tour. Browse more private tours in Israel.
Numbers match the itinerary below. Solid lines are walking legs, dashed lines are drives. Map is for orientation only.
Your guide and driver meet you at your hotel lobby or private address. On the drive up through the Judean Hills your guide sets the scene with 3,000 years of Jerusalem history, so you arrive knowing what to look for. Staying in Jerusalem? We start from your hotel there instead.
Begin with the best overview of the city from Mount Scopus. The Old City walls, the golden Dome of the Rock, the Mount of Olives and the Kidron Valley spread out below you. It is the perfect spot for photos and for your guide to explain how the city fits together.
Enter the UNESCO-listed Old City and walk to the Byzantine Cardo, the colonnaded main street of 6th century Jerusalem. Today Crusader-era vaults along the street hold small shops, and you can still see the original paving stones and columns.
Spend unhurried time at the Western Wall, the last remnant of the Second Temple compound and Judaism's holiest place of prayer. Approach the wall and leave a written note between the stones if you like. The Western Wall Heritage Foundation manages the plaza and its prayer areas.
Follow the Via Dolorosa, the Way of Sorrows, through the lanes of the Muslim and Christian Quarters. Your guide stops at the Stations of the Cross and tells the story behind each one, at the pace that suits your group.
The route reaches the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, built over Golgotha and the traditional tomb of Jesus. See the Stone of Anointing, the Calvary chapel and the Edicule. On busy days the line for the Edicule can be long, and your guide plans the visit around it.
Take a relaxed lunch break where your guide recommends, from fresh hummus to grilled meat, then browse the souks for spices, ceramics and olive wood. Short on time? Your guide can extend the walk to Mount Zion instead, as on our Christian Jerusalem tour.
Drive to Yad Vashem, the World Holocaust Remembrance Center on the Mount of Remembrance. Walk through the Holocaust History Museum and the Children's Memorial with time for reflection. Yad Vashem is closed on Saturdays and Jewish holidays, so on those days your guide offers another Jerusalem site instead.
The drive back to Tel Aviv takes about an hour, depending on traffic, and you are dropped at your door. Many guests pair this day with our Masada and Dead Sea tour later in the week.
You choose your pickup city when you book. We confirm the exact pickup time and place by email or WhatsApp the day before the tour.
Tour ends with: Return to your hotel
Pickup is from your hotel or private address in the Tel Aviv area at around 08:30. Pickup from Herzliya or Jerusalem can also be arranged. Because the tour is private, you can ask for an earlier or later start when you book, and we confirm the exact pickup time the day before.
Shoulders and knees must be covered at churches and at the Western Wall. Shorts and sleeveless tops are not allowed inside holy sites. A light scarf or shawl is handy.
Expect 3 to 4 hours of walking on uneven stone streets, slopes and steps in the Old City. The pace is set by your group and rest stops are easy to add. Tell us about any mobility needs and we will plan around them.
All ages are welcome. Young children are not admitted to the main museum at Yad Vashem, so families with small children can ask for an alternative stop. Child seats are available on request.
The tour is guided in English. Spanish, French, German and Russian guides are available on request for a supplement. Please ask before booking.
Free cancellation up to 48 hours before the start time. Cancelling between 48 and 24 hours before the tour carries a 25% fee. Cancelling within 24 hours of the start time, or not showing up, carries a 100% fee.

This is a private tour, so you pay one total price for your whole group, not a price per seat. The price steps up with group size because a bigger group needs a bigger vehicle: 1 to 3 guests, 4 to 6 guests, 7 to 13 guests and 14 to 16 guests each have their own group price. Choose your number of guests in the booking form and it shows the exact total for your group before you pay. The maximum group size is 16 guests. For larger groups, message us and we will build a custom quote.
Plan for about 10 hours from pickup to drop-off, including roughly an hour of driving each way from Tel Aviv. Because the tour is private, you can ask for a shorter or longer day when you book, or choose our Jerusalem half day tour for a quick morning visit. The Old City is described in detail on the UNESCO World Heritage page.
Yes, that is the main benefit of going private. Ask for an earlier start to beat the crowds, or swap a site for one that matters to you, such as the Garden of Gethsemane or Mount Zion. Your guide confirms the final plan with you the day before. For a church-focused day see our private Christian Jerusalem tour.
Cover your shoulders and knees, because churches and the Western Wall do not allow shorts or sleeveless tops. Wear comfortable closed shoes for stone streets and steps, and bring a hat and water. The Western Wall Heritage Foundation lists its own visitor guidelines.
Yes. Your guide adjusts the pace for families and can add breaks whenever you need them. Young children are not admitted to the main history museum at Yad Vashem, so if you travel with little ones, tell us and we will swap that stop for something more family friendly.
English is included as standard. A private guide in Spanish, French, German or Russian can usually be arranged on request for a supplement. Please message us before booking so we can confirm a guide for your date. Guides are licensed by the Israel Ministry of Tourism.
Lunch is not included, which gives you the freedom to eat where and when you like. Your guide knows good local spots in the Old City for every budget and dietary need, including vegetarian and kosher options.
This route stays in Jerusalem, so a passport is not strictly needed, but we recommend carrying it or a copy as standard ID in Israel. If you want to add Bethlehem, a passport is required. See the private Jerusalem and Bethlehem tour.
Yes, private tours run every day. On Saturdays and Jewish holidays Yad Vashem is closed and some shops in the Jewish Quarter shut, so your guide adapts the plan. Check current holiday dates on the official Israel tourism site.
Free cancellation up to 48 hours before the start time. Cancelling between 48 and 24 hours before the tour carries a 25% fee. Cancelling within 24 hours of the start time, or not showing up, carries a 100% fee. You can also ask to move your date instead of cancelling, subject to guide availability.
