Overview

Three countries, one trip and almost every famous site of the ancient world. This Israel Jordan Egypt tour takes 20 days to move from Jerusalem and the Sea of Galilee to the rose-red city of Petra, the sunrise over Mount Sinai, the Pyramids of Giza and the temples of the Nile. Your hotels, guides, border crossings, internal flights and transfers are planned for you, so you can focus on the places instead of the logistics.

The first week is Israel. You walk the Old City of Jerusalem and the Via Dolorosa, visit Bethlehem and Jericho, see Nazareth and Capernaum, explore Caesarea, Haifa and Acre, ride the cable car up Masada and float in the Dead Sea. A spa day breaks up the walking before you travel south to Eilat.

Week two crosses into Jordan for two nights in Petra and a 4x4 drive through Wadi Rum, then into Egypt to climb Mount Sinai for sunrise and visit St. Catherine's Monastery. In Cairo you stand in front of the Great Pyramid and the Sphinx, then fly to Aswan for a 3-night Nile cruise past Kom Ombo, Edfu, the Valley of the Kings and Karnak. This Israel Jordan Egypt tour ends with the Egyptian Museum, the Citadel, a free day and your flight home from Cairo.

Choose 3-star, 4-star or 5-star hotels when you book, sharing a double room or travelling solo. Children travel at a reduced rate in double-room packages. The Israel Jordan Egypt tour can start on any day of the week and is guided in English, with Russian, Spanish, French and German available on request. You need a passport valid for at least 6 months; our team arranges your Jordan and Egypt visas at the borders.

Frequently asked questions

What is included in the Israel Jordan Egypt tour?

Your package includes hotel nights in Israel, Jordan and Egypt in the category you book, 3 nights on a Nile cruise ship with full board, the flights Cairo to Aswan and Luxor to Cairo, daily breakfast and the meals listed in the itinerary, licensed guides, air-conditioned transport, border crossing assistance, the airport pickup in Tel Aviv and the drop-off at Cairo airport, and entrance fees except where noted. International flights, border taxes and visas are not included. Full details are in our booking terms, and you can read about the region on the Jordan Tourism Board site.

How much are the border taxes and visas?

Crossing into Jordan costs about $140 per person in border tax and visa, and entering Egypt about $125 per person. You can pay in US dollars cash at the borders, or pre-pay both ($265 per person) when you book to skip the exchange fees. Our team arranges the visas for you at the crossings. Current rules for Israel's crossings are on the official border crossings page.

What passport do I need?

A passport valid for at least 6 months after your return, with blank pages for Jordanian and Egyptian stamps. Most Western passport holders can get both visas at the border, but some nationalities must apply in advance, so send us your nationality when you book. Check the Israel entry requirements as well.

Which hotels will I stay in?

You choose 3-star, 4-star or 5-star hotels when you book. Nights are in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, the Dead Sea, Eilat, Petra and Cairo, plus 3 nights on a Nile cruise ship. Solo travelers book a single-room package. Extra nights before or after the tour can be added. Hotel names are confirmed in your voucher about 2 weeks before departure, and Israeli hotels are graded by the Ministry of Tourism. For shorter trips, see our 5 day Israel tour, and for Jordan our Petra and Wadi Rum tour.

How hard is the Mount Sinai climb?

The climb takes about 2.5 to 3 hours at night on a camel path, followed by about 750 steep steps to the summit. Camels can carry you most of the way for a small local fee. It is cold at the top, even in summer, so bring a warm layer. You can skip the climb and rest at the base if you prefer. Read about the mountain and monastery on the St. Catherine's Monastery site.

Can children join the Israel Jordan Egypt tour?

Yes. Children aged 4 to 11 sharing with two adults pay the child rate shown in the double-room packages. The tour has long days and early starts, so it suits children who are used to travel. Children under 4 can travel on a private version; contact us. Family tips for Jordan are on the Visit Jordan site.

Can the tour start on any day?

Yes, the Israel Jordan Egypt tour departs every day of the year. The order of some visits may change with the start day, because some sites close on Fridays, Saturdays or religious holidays. Your guide confirms the next day's timing each evening. If you need a shorter trip from Eilat, see our Petra day tour from Eilat and the Egypt tourism portal.

What should I pack?

Comfortable walking shoes, modest clothing that covers shoulders and knees for churches, mosques and the Western Wall, swimwear for the Dead Sea, a warm jacket for Mount Sinai and Petra evenings, sun protection, a small backpack and US dollars cash for borders and tips. The health and safety page has useful advice for hot weather.

What is the cancellation policy?

This package includes hotel nights, a Nile cruise and internal flights that we pay for in advance, so it is non-refundable once booked. If your plans change, contact us as early as possible and we will try to move your dates, as described in section 4 of our booking terms. We strongly recommend travel insurance with cancellation cover; the Ministry of Tourism advises all visitors to hold health insurance.

Which optional activities can I add?

Popular add-ons are the Abu Simbel temples from Aswan, a sunrise hot air balloon over Luxor, a day trip to Alexandria, Petra by Night, a second-day Petra ticket and a camel ride at the pyramids. Add them as extras when you book or ask your guide during the tour. Learn about Abu Simbel on the UNESCO Nubian Monuments page.
