This Petra and Aaron's Tomb tour is a two day trip from Eilat made with traditionally observant travelers in mind. Day 1 is a guided visit to Petra, the rose-red city of the Nabateans, and day 2 is a climb to the shrine on Jebel Haroun where, by tradition, Aaron, the brother of Moses, is buried. Petra entrance, lunch at a restaurant, an English-speaking Jordanian guide and a hotel night in Jordan are included, and kosher meals are provided for those who keep kosher.
You are picked up in Eilat in the morning and cross into Jordan at the Arava border. In Petra you walk through the Siq to the Treasury and tour the site for three to four hours with your guide, with lunch at a restaurant. After a night at your hotel, you rise early on day 2 for the two hour walk and climb up Jebel Haroun to Aaron's Tomb, then meet your driver in the afternoon and arrive back in Eilat at about 19:00.
The trip suits religious and traditional travelers, Bible readers and active visitors who want more than a rushed day in Petra. Spreading it over two days gives you time for the climb to Aaron's Tomb, which a one day trip simply cannot fit in. The Petra and Aaron's Tomb tour does need good fitness on day 2, since the climb is steep and done without the guide.
Pickup is from your Eilat hotel or Ramon Airport in the morning, and exact times are confirmed after booking. Choose 3-star, 4-star or 5-star hotels, priced per person in a double room for 2 or more travelers or as a single room if you travel solo. Children sharing a double room pay a lower rate, and the booking form shows the exact price for your hotel level and travelers. The tour departs daily, subject to availability, and is non-refundable because the hotel night is pre-paid. Short on time? Try our Petra day tour from Eilat, the Petra 2 day tour from Eilat or the Petra and Wadi Rum 2 day tour. Choose your date and book your Petra and Aaron's Tomb tour today.

Your Petra and Aaron's Tomb tour starts with pickup from your hotel in Eilat or from Ramon Airport. Exact pickup times are confirmed after booking. Keep your passport and cash for the visa, border fees and tips at hand.
You complete Israeli and Jordanian border formalities at the Arava crossing just north of Eilat and Aqaba. Border control can take up to an hour. On the Jordanian side you board an air-conditioned coach for the drive to Petra.
At the Visitor Center you enter Petra, a UNESCO World Heritage site, with a short horse ride for those who want it. Then you walk through the Siq, the long, narrow canyon that ends at the famous Treasury, Al Khazneh.
Over three to four hours your guide shows you the carved facades, temples and the Roman theater, and explains how the Nabateans grew rich by collecting water in cisterns. You also see the Temple of the Winged Lions, still being excavated. Lunch is at a restaurant, with kosher meals for those who keep kosher.
After the touring day you check in at your hotel at the level you chose. Hotel details are sent with your confirmation. Get to bed early, because day 2 starts early.
Rise early for the two hour walk and climb up Jebel Haroun, where tradition places the burial site of Aaron, the brother of Moses. Pick up a map at the Visitor Center before you set out. The Jordanian guide does not join this climb, so you go at your own pace.
The small shrine on the summit is a very holy site and a moving goal after the climb. Take time for prayer and for the wide views over the mountains around Petra. Our Petra visit guide has more tips for your time in the area.
At about 16:30 you meet the driver for your return transfer. On the way you cross the border back into Israel.
You arrive back in Eilat at about 19:00, where the trip ends.
