This 8 day Jordan tour is the unhurried way to see the whole country, from the Roman streets of Jerash in the north to the red sands of Wadi Rum in the south. You get two full days around Petra, a swim in the Dead Sea, the desert castles of the eastern badlands and the mosaic churches of Madaba, all with a licensed guide, entrance fees and seven hotel nights with breakfast.
You land in Amman and spend the first four nights there, using the capital as a base for day trips to the Umayyad desert castles, the Citadel and Roman Theatre, the Dead Sea, and the ruins of Jerash with Ajloun Castle. On day 5 you drive south on the Kings' Highway past Madaba, Mount Nebo and Karak Castle to Petra, where you spend two nights and a full day exploring. Day 7 brings a 4x4 drive through Wadi Rum before the return to Amman, and day 8 is your airport transfer.
This 8 day Jordan tour suits first-time visitors who want the full picture, history lovers who care about the Greco-Roman and Crusader sites as much as Petra, and Bible readers who want to stand on Mount Nebo. Eight days means you are not racing through the country. Sleeping in Amman and then in Petra cuts down on packing, and the free afternoons give you time to wander downtown on your own.
Your Amman airport arrival and departure transfers are part of the package. Choose 3-star, 4-star or 5-star hotels, priced per person in a double room for 2 or more travelers or as a single room if you travel solo. Children and infants pay lower rates on the double room options, and the booking form shows the exact price for your hotel level and travelers. Because all seven hotel nights are pre-paid, the 8 day Jordan tour is non-refundable. Coming from Israel? See our Israel, Jordan and Egypt tour, compare other 6 to 8 day tours, or browse all Jordan package tours. The tour departs daily, subject to availability, so pick your date and book today.
Numbers match the itinerary below. Solid lines are walking legs, dashed lines are drives. Map is for orientation only.
You land at Queen Alia International Airport, where you are met and driven to your hotel in Amman. The rest of the day is free to settle in after your flight. You sleep at your hotel in Amman.
After breakfast you drive into the eastern desert to visit the Umayyad castles of Azraq, Amra and Kharana, including Quseir Amra, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Back in Amman, the afternoon is free to explore the downtown area on foot. You sleep at your hotel in Amman.
The morning covers the Roman Theatre, the Amman Citadel, the archaeological and folklore museums and the modern side of the city. In the afternoon you head down to the Dead Sea for a float in its warm, salty water at a spa hotel beach. You return to your hotel in Amman for the night.
Today you visit Jerash, one of the best preserved Greco-Roman cities anywhere, with its theaters, temples, churches and colonnaded streets. You continue to Ajloun Castle, a 12th century fortress built by one of Saladin's commanders during the wars with the Crusaders. You sleep at your hotel in Amman.
Head south on the Kings' Highway to Madaba and Saint George's Church, home of the oldest mosaic map of the Holy Land, then climb Mount Nebo for the view Moses was granted over the Promised Land. The road crosses the deep canyon of Wadi Mujib to the Crusader castle of Karak. You continue to Petra and sleep at your hotel there.
The tour of Petra starts on horseback and then continues on foot into the Rose Red City. You see the Treasury, the Royal Tombs, burial chambers and the high places of sacrifice, with time to take it all in. You return to your hotel in Petra for a second night.
After breakfast you explore Wadi Rum on a two-hour 4x4 drive through the moon-like desert where Lawrence of Arabia was filmed. If time allows, you can make a short stop in Aqaba on the Red Sea for a swim or some snorkeling. You then drive north and sleep at your hotel in Amman.
Enjoy a last breakfast at your hotel. Your driver then takes you to Queen Alia International Airport for your flight home. If you want more time in Amman, you can add an extra hotel night after the tour on the booking form.
You choose your pickup city when you book. We confirm the exact pickup time and place by email or WhatsApp the day before the tour.
