This Petra and Jerash tour from Tel Aviv covers the classic sights of Jordan in three days, with the planning done for you. You see the Greco-Roman city of Jerash, spend most of a day in Petra, tour Amman, and finish with the mosaic map of Madaba and the view from Mount Nebo. Transfers from Tel Aviv or Jerusalem, licensed local guides, entrance fees, a horse ride in Petra and hotels with dinner and breakfast are included.
Day 1 starts early with a transfer from Tel Aviv or Jerusalem to the Sheikh Hussein crossing on the Jordan River. After the border you visit Jerash for about two hours, then drive south to Petra for dinner and the night. Day 2 is Petra day: about six hours with a horse ride, the Siq, the Treasury, the Roman Theatre and more, followed by the drive to Amman for dinner and a second night. On day 3 you tour Amman's Roman amphitheater and the Citadel, visit the Folklore Museum, see the mosaic map in Madaba and look out from Mount Nebo before returning to Israel in the evening.
Jerash in the north and Petra in the south are far apart, so three days is the comfortable way to see both from Israel. The tour suits history lovers, Bible readers who want to stand where Moses looked over the Promised Land, and travelers who prefer a guided package with hotels and dinners already arranged. With transport, guides and most meals covered, this Petra and Jerash tour from Tel Aviv keeps your costs predictable.
Departure is early in the morning from Tel Aviv or Jerusalem, and exact pickup details are confirmed after booking. Prices are per person in a double room for 2 or more travelers, with lower child and infant rates, or for a single room if you travel solo. You can upgrade both hotel nights to 4-star or 5-star on the booking form, which shows the exact price for your option and number of travelers. The tour departs on set days, so check the calendar for open dates. Because the hotel nights are pre-paid, this Petra and Jerash tour from Tel Aviv is non-refundable. Short on time? See the Petra and Jerash 2 day tour, the 4 day Jordan tour from Tel Aviv or the Petra day tour from Jerusalem with flights. Choose your date and book today.
Numbers match the itinerary below. Solid lines are walking legs, dashed lines are drives. Map is for orientation only.
After the border you continue to Jerash, famous for the Greco-Roman ruins of the ancient city of Gerasa, much of it uncovered by excavations. Your licensed local guide leads a visit of about two hours through this great Roman city.
From Jerash you drive south through Jordan toward Petra, a good time to rest before the big day tomorrow.
Dinner and the night are at your hotel in Petra.
After breakfast you enter Petra, a UNESCO World Heritage site built by the Nabataeans more than 2,000 years ago. Your horse ride is included, and you head through the Siq, the narrow canyon that leads into the city.
With your licensed local guide you see the pink stone Treasury, the Roman Theatre and more of the temples and tombs among the 800 or so structures of the site. The visit lasts about six hours in total. Our Petra visit guide has tips to help you prepare.
After the visit you drive north to Amman, the capital of Jordan.
Dinner and the night are at your hotel in Amman.
After breakfast you tour Amman by vehicle, with stops at the Roman amphitheater and the Citadel, and a visit to the Folklore Museum.
In Madaba you see the ancient mosaic map of the Holy Land, found in 1896. Madaba is known for its ancient mosaics, and excavations in the town continue today.
From Mount Nebo you take in the panoramic view over the land of Israel, the same view the prophet Moses was shown.
In the evening you cross back into Israel at the Sheikh Hussein or Allenby crossing, and the tour ends with your transfer to Tel Aviv or Jerusalem.
You choose your pickup city when you book. We confirm the exact pickup time and place by email or WhatsApp the day before the tour.
