Day Tours in Israel
See Jerusalem in one day without planning a thing. This Jerusalem full day tour from Tel Aviv picks you up at your hotel, takes you up to the Holy City and walks you through its most important sites with a licensed guide, then brings you back in the evening.
You start with the classic panorama from Mount Scopus, walk down to the Garden of Gethsemane and the Church of All Nations, then visit Mount Zion, where tradition places King David's Tomb and the Room of the Last Supper. Inside the Old City walls you cross the Armenian and Jewish Quarters to the Byzantine Cardo and the Western Wall, then follow the Via Dolorosa to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.
Plan for a full day of 9 to 11 hours with about 3 to 4 hours of walking on stone streets and steps. Entrance fees are included, and there is a lunch break and free time in the Old City markets. On Mondays and Thursdays the route includes Yad Vashem, the World Holocaust Remembrance Center, in place of some Mount Zion sites.
Pickup is from hotels in Tel Aviv, Herzliya and Jerusalem. Want to add Bethlehem? See the Jerusalem and Bethlehem tour, or pair this day with the Masada Dead Sea tour. For more ideas, browse all day tours in Israel or read our Israel travel guide.
Prayer times and access rules at the Western Wall can change on holidays, so check the Western Wall Heritage Foundation before you go. Your guide confirms the plan the day before.
Numbers match the itinerary below. Solid lines are walking legs, dashed lines are drives. Map is for orientation only.
Pickup from Tel Aviv and Herzliya hotels runs between about 07:00 and 07:45. Guests staying in Jerusalem are collected around 08:30. We confirm your exact pickup time the day before by WhatsApp or email.
Your guide introduces the day and the 3,000-year story of Jerusalem on the drive up through the Judean Hills.
Start with the best overview of the city. From Mount Scopus the Old City walls, the golden Dome of the Rock, the Mount of Olives and the Kidron Valley spread out in front of you, and your guide explains how the pieces fit together before you walk in.
Walk among olive trees that are centuries old in the garden where, according to the Gospels, Jesus prayed on the night of his arrest. Next door, the Church of All Nations shelters the Rock of the Agony under a ceiling of deep blue mosaics.
On the way toward Mount Zion your guide points out the rock-cut monuments of the Kidron Valley, including the Tomb of Absalom and the Tomb of Zechariah, carved more than 2,000 years ago.
Visit the traditional Tomb of King David, a place of prayer for centuries, and climb to the Cenacle, the Gothic upper room linked by Christian tradition to the Last Supper.
Mondays and Thursdays: the tour visits Yad Vashem, the World Holocaust Remembrance Center, instead of these Mount Zion sites. Children under 12 are not admitted to the main museum.
Enter the Old City through Zion Gate, still marked by bullet holes from 1948, and walk through the Armenian Quarter to the Cardo, the colonnaded main street of Byzantine Jerusalem.
Spend time at the Western Wall, the last remnant of the Second Temple compound and Judaism's holiest place of prayer. There is time to approach the wall and leave a written note between the stones, as visitors have done for generations.
A break for lunch in the Old City, where you can try fresh falafel, hummus or a plate of grilled meat. Lunch is not included, and your guide suggests good spots nearby.
Follow the Via Dolorosa, the Way of Sorrows, through the lanes of the Muslim and Christian Quarters. Your guide stops at the Stations of the Cross and tells the story of each one.
The route ends at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, built over Golgotha and the traditional tomb of Jesus. Inside you see the Stone of Anointing, the Calvary chapel and the Edicule over the tomb. On busy days the line to enter the Edicule can be long, and entry inside it cannot be guaranteed.
Browse the souks of the Christian and Muslim Quarters for spices, ceramics, olive wood and souvenirs before meeting your group again.
The vehicle leaves Jerusalem at about 17:00. Drop-off at hotels in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and Herzliya, usually between 17:30 and 19:00 depending on traffic.
You choose your pickup city when you book. We confirm the exact pickup time and place by email or WhatsApp the day before the tour.
