Overview

This 10 day Israel tour with Petra takes you from the hills of Nazareth to the desert canyons of Jordan, with free days built in so you never feel rushed. You tour the Galilee, the Mediterranean coast, Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Masada and the Dead Sea, then fly south to Eilat and spend two days in Petra. Nine hotel nights with breakfast, internal flights and entrance fees are covered.

Day 1 starts in Nazareth, day 2 is free in Tel Aviv, and day 3 runs up the coast to Caesarea, Haifa, Rosh Hanikra and Acre. Day 4 is another free day. Day 5 covers Jerusalem old and new, day 6 visits Jericho and Bethlehem, and day 7 brings Masada and the Dead Sea before an evening flight to Eilat. Days 8 and 9 are in Petra, with a guided tour and a free day, and day 10 flies you back to Ben Gurion Airport.

This Israel tour with Petra suits travelers who want the classic Bible and history sites plus Jordan's most famous wonder, without packing every day full. The two free days in Tel Aviv give you time for the beach, the markets or simply rest, and the second day in Petra lets you return to the trails at your own pace. It is a good choice for couples, friends and first-time visitors who prefer a balanced rhythm.

Touring days start with pickup at 07:15 from the Dan Hotel in Tel Aviv, close to your hotel, and the Petra day starts from your hotel in Eilat. An airport transfer on arrival and departure is available on request. You choose 3-star, 4-star or 5-star hotels, priced per person in a double room for 2 or more travelers, or a single room if you travel solo, and the booking form shows the exact price for your hotel level and number of travelers. The tour departs daily, subject to availability, and this Israel tour with Petra is non-refundable because hotels and flights are pre-paid. Need a shorter Jordan add-on? You drive north past Herzliya and Netanya and across the Jezreel Valley, with a view of Megiddo, the biblical Armageddon. Today has no group touring, so the time is yours. Spend it on the beach, wander the lanes of Old Jaffa or browse the city's markets and cafes. You sleep at your hotel in Tel Aviv.

  3. 3
Day 3Caesarea, Haifa, Rosh Hanikra and Acre

Start with Caesarea, where the Roman theater dedicated to Caesar still faces the sea. Drive up the coast to Haifa for the Baha'i Gardens, then on to the white cliffs and sea grottoes of Rosh Hanikra. The day ends in Acre, with the Crusader castle and a walk through the old market, before you head back to Tel Aviv for the night.

  4. 4
Day 4Free day in Tel Aviv

A second free day gives you a break between the north and Jerusalem. You can relax by the sea, visit a museum or ask us about adding an extra touring day for a fee. Your night is again in Tel Aviv.

  5. 5
    Day 5Jerusalem Old and New

Your guide takes you through the Jewish Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem to the Western Wall. From there you walk the Via Dolorosa, past pilgrims following the Stations of the Cross, to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. The afternoon visit is Yad Vashem, the Holocaust museum, before you return to Tel Aviv for the night.

  6. 6
    Day 6Jericho and Bethlehem

After the 07:15 pickup you cross the Judean Desert to Jericho, one of the oldest cities in the world, to see the Mount of Temptation, the sycamore tree linked to Zacchaeus and the ancient excavations. You then drive to Bethlehem and cross Manger Square to the Church of the Nativity and the Church of St. Catherine. Carry your passport today. You sleep in Tel Aviv.

  7. 7
Day 7Masada, the Dead Sea and the flight to Eilat

Pickup is at 07:15 for the drive south to Masada, where a cable car takes you up to the palaces, synagogue and bathhouse. Below the fortress you enjoy a mud bath and a swim in the Dead Sea, then pass the Qumran caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found. Back in Tel Aviv you take an evening flight to the Eilat area, landing at Ramon Airport, and spend the night in Eilat.

  8. 8
    Day 8Petra guided tour

Pickup from your Eilat hotel is at 08:15 for the short drive to the Jordanian border, where our team helps you with the crossing. A drive of about two hours brings you to Petra, where an English-speaking Jordanian guide shows you the Treasury, the temples, the carved facades and the Roman theater, followed by lunch. In the evening you can join Petra by Night at extra cost. You sleep in Petra.

  9. 9
    Day 9Free day in Petra

Today you go back into Petra on your own and explore the trails at your leisure. At about 16:30 you are driven back to the border and cross into Israel. You spend the night in Eilat.

Frequently asked questions

What does the Israel tour with Petra price include?

The price includes transportation with a driver, 9 hotel nights on a bed and breakfast basis, the guided touring days, internal flights, entrance fees on the itinerary and lunch on the Petra tour day. An airport transfer on arrival and departure is available on request. The booking form shows the exact price for your hotel level and number of travelers.

Do I need a visa for Jordan, and are border fees included?

The Jordan visa and the departure tax at the border are not included in the price. Our team can arrange the visa for you at the border, and both are paid there in cash. Check the entry rules for your nationality before you travel. Our Israel Jordan border crossing guide explains each step.

What passport rules should I know about?

Bring a valid passport and keep it with you on touring days, as it is checked at the Jordan border and at checkpoints. Israeli citizens cannot enter Bethlehem or Jericho, which are in Area A, so day 6 is not possible for them. Contact us before booking if this applies to you. Many visa-exempt travelers also need an approved ETA-IL before flying to Israel, so check the official ETA-IL site.

Where is pickup each day?

Every touring day in Israel starts at 07:15 from the Dan Hotel in Tel Aviv, close to your own hotel. On day 8 you are collected from your hotel in Eilat at 08:15. Day sequence can change depending on tour availability.

Which hotels are used?

You stay 9 nights with breakfast: six in Tel Aviv, then Eilat, Petra and Eilat again. You choose 3-star, 4-star or 5-star hotels when you book, and hotel names are listed on your voucher.

Can children join the tour?

Yes. Children sharing a double room with adults pay a lower child rate, shown on the booking form. Yad Vashem does not admit children under 10, and Petra involves a lot of walking, so plan with younger kids in mind.

How fit do I need to be?

A normal level of fitness is enough. Jerusalem has stone streets and steps, and Petra means several kilometers of walking on sand and rock, especially if you explore further on the free day. Good walking shoes are a must.

When is the best time to go?

Spring and autumn are the most comfortable seasons for walking tours in Israel and Petra. In summer bring cool clothing and a head covering, and in winter pack very warm clothes, since Petra and the desert can be cold. Our Israel, Jordan and Egypt travel guide has more planning tips.

Can I cancel or change my booking?

This tour is non-refundable because hotel nights and flights are pre-paid as soon as you book. If your plans change, contact us and we will try to move you to other dates, subject to availability. Full details are in our booking terms.

Is a guide in another language available?

The tour is guided in English. Other languages may be available for an extra fee, so contact us before booking if you need one.
